KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Four SIUE golfers earned Academic All-District® as announced by College Sports Communicators to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their performance in the athletic realm and in the classroom.
TJ Baker, Luke Ludwig, Presley Mackelburg and Anthony Ruthey were selected to the men's At-Large team, which is comprised of student athletes in golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Baker, a junior from Rockford, Illinois, appeared in all 10 tournaments for the Cougars and finished the year with a ninth-place finish at the OVC Championship. Baker has a 3.63 GPA in Business Administration-Marketing.
Ludwig, a redshirt-junior from Effingham, Illinois, appeared in seven of SIUE's 10 tournaments and finished the year with a scoring average of 74.67. Ludwig has a 4.0 in Mechanical Engineering.
Mackelburg, a senior from Reno, Nevada, appeared in nine tournaments for the Cougars. He earned a fifth-place finish at Bandon Dunes. Mackelburg has begun graduate school and has a 4.0 in Kinesiology, Exercise and Sport Psychology.
Ruthey a redshirt-junior from Port Byron, Illinois, tied for eighth in the OVC in scoring average at 73.2. He recorded a pair of top-five finishes and took sixth at the OVC Championship. He has a 3.63 GPA in Business Administration-Marketing.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 21.
