BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the third time this season, SIUE goalkeeper Sam Gomez has earned recognition as the Ohio Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Week.
Gomez picks up the award after another unbeaten week for the Cougars.
He made four saves, picking up his second shutout of the season in a home win over Western Illinois Tuesday night. He allowed a goal in a draw at Bradley, coming on a rebound off the post. He tied his career high with six saves in the contest.
The native of St. Louis, is the OVC leader in goals against average at 0.67 and save percentage at .857. His two shutouts this year, also are the most in the league.
SIUE completes its nonconference season Friday with a home contest against Webster at Korte Stadium.
