Emma Czech's first career goal for SIUE women's soccer was a big one.
Czech took a pass from
Sidney Christopher and went top left of the goal at 84:20 as SIUE secured a 1-1 tie at Tennessee Tech. Christopher set up a free kick from 35 yards out, curled the ball to the left side of the net, and Czech connected on the pass as she sprinted towards the goal.
The goal help the Cougars move to 2-6-5 overall and 1-2-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Golden Eagles are now 4-1-1 in OVC play as well as 4-7-5 overall.
After a scoreless first half, Tennessee Tech jumped on the scoreboard first. Katie Toney scored her sixth goal of the season at 62:04 unassisted.
SIUE would go on to outshoot Tennessee Tech 13-10 and put four shots on goal, including Czech's game-tying shot.
Abby Haskell played the full 90 in goal for the Cougars and picked up two saves. Maggie Conrad posted three saves for the Golden Eagles.
Next up for the Cougars is another road contest at Southeast Missouri Thursday. Game time is 6 p.m. in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. SIUE's home schedule concludes next Sunday for Senior Day against Southern Indiana at 2 p.m.
