CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – SIUE (12-16, 7-10 OVC) fell to #1 SEMO (17-12,14-3 OVC) in four sets.
The first two sets were split, with SEMO taking the first set 25-16.
SIUE came out hot taking a seven-point lead to start the second set. The Cougars claimed the second set 25-15 off a kill from
Sydney Hummert.
The intensity remained for the final two sets with the Cougars putting up a fight before the Redhawks took the final two sets 25-17 and 27-27.
Three players recorded double doubles for the Cougars. Hummert had 13 kills and 12 digs,
Alyse Drifka had 16 assists and 10 digs, and
Corinna Jones had 23 assists and 15 digs.
Nicole Medlin led the attack for SIUE with 14 kills hitting at a .480 hitting percentage. She also tallied three total blocks.
Both
Taya Nordmann and Bree Schrimann had four blocks apiece. While
Kyndia Smith assisted on defense contributing three block assists.
As a team SIUE had 55 kills, one service ace, 11 blocks, 50 assists and 80 digs compared to SEMO's 60 kills, three service aces, 12 blocks, 57 assists, and 83 digs.
Up next, the Cougars take on SEMO again Nov. 20. The first serve is set for 5:00 p.m.
