BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – A pair of SIUE men's soccer players are among the honorees as the Ohio Valley Conference announced its Players of the Week following the season's first week.

Nic Muench (Heidelberg, Germany) was chosen as the Offensive Player of the Week while Rob Gjelaj (Romeo, Michigan) was selected as the Goalkeeper of the Week.

Muench played all 90 minutes for the Cougars, beginning the game on the back line, before shifting to a midfield spot later in the match. His goal in the 60^th minute tied the match for SIUE on opening night against Michigan State.

Gjelaj made five saves in his first regular season game for the Cougars, playing all 90 minutes in goal. He did not concede a goal in the run of play. The only goal he allowed came on a penalty kick.  

The weekly awards mark the first for both players.

SIUE continues its season with a pair of games at Ohio State's Wolstein Classic Thursday and Sunday.
