CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Cougars (4-6) took on SIU Carbondale (7-4) this afternoon in a four-set match. SIUE lost the first set 26-24 but bounced back to win the second and third sets 26-24 and 25-21. The Cougars clinched the match by winning the fourth set 25-21.
As a team, the Cougars scored 77 total points with 54 kills, hitting at a .171 clip. They also tallied eight service aces, 15 blocks, and 64 total digs.
Outside hitter
Sydney Hummert recorded her second double-double of the season. Hummert had 13 total kills with a .186 percentage, and 13 digs. In addition to her double-double she contributed three assists, three service aces and two block assists.
Inside the Numbers:
- Setter Alyse Drifka led the team with 25 assists and nine digs, while Corinna Jones added 19 assists and seven digs.
- Right- side hitter Kyndia Smith matched Hummert with 13 kills, hitting a .240 clip. Smith also contributed five digs and five blocks.
- Outside hitter Bree Schreimann added six kills and seven digs, while middle blocker Nicole Medlin contributed eight kills and nine blocks.
- Olivia Hogan led this match with 14 digs and four service aces.
