EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's basketball fell to NIU, giving the Huskies their first win of the season.
The Cougars are now 3-2 overall and the Huskies improve to 1-4 on the season.
Kiyoko Proctor started the game strong hitting two three-pointers early in the first quarter. A layup from
Lauren Miller with 33 seconds left in the first quarter gave the Cougars a 10-point lead (17-7).
However, the Huskies managed to tie the game (19-19) after Nevaeh Wingate scored a three-pointer in the last 34 seconds of the second quarter. NIU claimed the lead early in the start of the second half, maintaining it through the remainder of the game.
Proctor led the team with 11 points and four assists; Miller followed with nine points and three rebounds. Adebukola led the team with nine rebounds, and
Adriana Blazquez followed with seven rebounds.
SIUE returns to First Community Arena Nov. 25 to take on the Evansville Aces. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
