VALPARAISO, Ind. – Women's basketball claims their sixth win of the season with a 76-69 victory over Valparaiso.
The Cougars are now 6-3 overall and Valparaiso falls to 0-10.
There were four Cougars that scored in double digits.
Macy Silvey led the team with 16 points going 5-10 from three-point range. Following her was
Lauren Miller with 15 points, shooting 7-16 from the field and grabbing five rebounds.
Kiyoko Proctor and
Syanne Mohamed had 14 points each. Proctor went 4-11 from the field and 4-4 at the line and contributed seven assists. Mohamed led the team with eight rebounds and had five assists, going 7-10 from the field.
Proctor helped the Cougars gain their lead after knocking down a three-pointer with 9:30 to go in the first quarter. Valparaiso tied the game once in the second quarter (21-21), but Silvey responded with another three-pointer regaining SIUE's lead (24-21).
As a team SIUE, they connected 46 percent (30-64) of their shots from the field and 60 percent (6-10) of their shots from the line.
Up next, the cougars will return to First Community Arena to take on Harris-Stowe Sunday at 3:30 pm.
