EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Four SIUE women's tennis players were tabbed for All-District honors today by College Sports Communications, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Stefaniya Anikina, Paige Duncan, Chloe Koons and Amelia Gorman were honored for SIUE. Eligible nominees were in the lineup for 70 percent of an institution's days of competition (regional competition such as ITAs and non-team scored events do not count) and achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.500.
Anikina finished the season with a 15-0 record in singles play and 16-0 mark in doubles competition. Duncan posted a 13-11 record in singles play. Koons was third on the team in singles wins with 18. Gorman, the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year finished the season with a 23-5 record in singles and a 21-6 record in doubles.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third team will be announced June 3.
