MADISON, Ill. – Brady Kaufmann is eighth and SIUE golf is fifth after the first two rounds at the Dolenc Invitational, their home tournament, played Monday at Gateway National Golf Links.
The Cougars' A team combined to shoot 12-under (280-276). Their second-round score of 276 tied for the ninth lowest team round in school history.
UT Martin is 22-under to lead the team competition. Idaho is two strokes back with Belmont and Green Bay each at 13-under.
Kaufmann finished six-under for the day. He shot rounds of 70-66, the latter round tying for the second-lowest score of his career.
Tomas Rascon and Brent Reintjes are tied for 22nd at two-under for the tournament. Rascon shot a career-low 68 in the first round. Will Simpson is tied for 31st at one-under. Preston Bily is tied for 59th at three-over.
For the first time, SIUE had a roster big enough to sustain a second team in the tournament. The B team is 19-over after two rounds. Max Bruening is tied for 65th at four-over. Jake Guse, playing the first tournament of his college career, is five-over and tied for 70th. Parker Bruening is tied for 79th at seven-over. Hayden Moore is tied for 93rd and Thomas Hereau is tied for 100th.
Green Bay's Mason Haupt is atop the individual leaderboard at 11-under.
