DES MOINES, Iowa – SIUE women's soccer took its first loss of the 2026 season, a 3-0 road defeat at Drake.
The Bulldogs improved to 4-2 while SIUE fell to 2-1-2. The Cougars now are idle until next Sunday when they return home for a 1 p.m. nonconference contest against Indiana State.
Drake scored the only goal it needed for the win at 35:32 when Alexa Aylward scored her second goal of the season. The Bulldogs' Angela Gutierrez added to her team-leading totals in goals with two second-half goals just three minutes apart in the 79th and 82nd minute. She now has five goals for the Bulldogs.
The Cougars were held to one shot by Claire Nieroda, her 20th of the season. Drake edged the Cougars in shots overall 9-1.
Drake's Kate Hopma and Addie Ford shared time in goal. Sarah Bozeman recorded two saves in goal for SIUE.
