The Yellow Jackets, 8-3, scored 50 points in the paint and shot
57 percent from the field to push past the Cougars, now 5-5.

Austin led the Cougars off the bench with 10 points. SIUE shot
25 percent for the game and committed 31 turnovers.
"We started strong and played well in the first half," said SIUE
Head Coach Amanda Levens. "Our
team did a great job executing defensively. Unfortunately, we had a
lot of trouble scoring in the second half, and Georgia Tech got
hot."
Georgia Tech's Tyaunna Marshall led all scorers with 15 points,
shooting 7 of 9 from the field. Dawnn May and Sasha Goodlet added
12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Yellow Jackets.
The Cougars held strong with Georgia Tech in the first half and
were down 32-22 at the break. SIUE's biggest advantage was beyond
the three-point line, hitting 5 of 19 overall. Georgia Tech made 2
of 9 from beyond the arc in the game.
"Our effort was there but we need to take better care of the
basketball. It's important we move on quickly and be ready to play
another quality opponent tomorrow," Levens said.
The Cougars face Georgia State in a 6 p.m. ET game Tuesday.
