Box Score EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Jazmin Hill tied the
school record for three-pointers in a game Tuesday but SIUE
couldn't overcome 24 turnovers in a 66-60 loss to Bradley.
It was the first loss of the season at home for the women's
basketball Cougars, which dropped to 4-3. Bradley improved to
7-3.
"They scored 28 points off our turnovers, and they had 12
offensive rebounds in the second half. Honestly, that was the
difference," said SIUE Head Coach Amanda Levens.
The Cougars had come back from a 12-point second half deficit to
take a three-point lead on a three pointer by Hill with 6:35 to
play in the game. The SIUE sophomore would finish with eight
three-pointers, equaling the single-game record set by Whitney Sykes in
2005. Hill finished the game with a career-high 28 points on
10-of-14 shooting.
"Jazmin willed us back into the game. She made some big baskets,
and Melia did a great job pushing the ball. It all started with
getting stops defensively," Levens said.
Bradley was led by Catie O'Leary who scored a team-leading 15
points off the bench, including three three-point baskets. Katie
Yohn and Mackenzie Wescott joined O'Leary in double figures with 13
and 12 points, respectively.
SIUE's Raven
Berry carried a load defensively, ripping down a game-high 12
rebounds.
"Raven played a great game defensively. She did a fantastic
job," Levens added.
Freshman Katie Hempen was the
only other Cougar in double figures with 10 points, her fourth
straight double-digit outing.
SIUE now begins a string of four straight games on the road. It
begins Friday with a 7 p.m. contest at No. 20 DePaul and continues
Sunday at IPFW for a 2 p.m. ET matchup.
