LAST TIME
SIUE improved to 3-0 at home Sunday, outlasting Kansas City 60-56. The Cougars opened the game with a run and led nearly the rest of the way. SIUE scored the game's first six points and led until a three-pointer gave Kansas City a 19-18 lead with 3:31 to play in the first half. The Cougars responded with an 8-0 run to close the half and carried a 26-19 lead to halftime. The Cougars extended the run to 10 with a
Shamar Wright layup to start the second half and give SIUE its largest lead of the game at 28-19. While SIUE never trailed in the second half, Kansas City kept the game close.Â
SHARP SHOOTERS
SIUE connected on 52.4 percent (33-63) of its shots Dec. 8 vs. Purdue Fort Wayne and now has hit at least 45 percent of its shots in six games this year. Last year, the team's season-best was 58 percent against Tennessee Tech and SIUE shot at least 50 percent in a game eight different times.Â
TAYLOR'S HOT START CONTINUES
Ray'Sean Taylor poured in a career-high 25 points against Purdue Fort Wayne Dec. 8. He has now has four 20-point games this season. He is fourth in the OVC in scoring at 17.5 points per game, which is fourth in the country among freshman. Taylor missed last season with a torn right ACL. He is the all-time leading scorer at Collinsville High School with more than 2,100 points. He posted a 53-point game against Trinity (St. Louis) during his senior year.
ONCE, TWICE, THREE TIMES A WINNER
Taylor has won the OVC Freshman of the Week award three times this season, including the last two weeks. Burak Eslik (2015-16) is the only SIUE player to have won three weekly awards in the same season. No SIUE player has won more than three.Â
11 AND COUNTING
Taylor has scored in double figures in all 11 games he has played. The last player to have that many games of consecutive double digit scoring was Jalen Henry, who finished the 2017-18 season with 18 straight.Â

Taylor buried a 35-foot, buzzer-beater to lead SIUE to a 69-66 win over Youngstown State Nov. 20. The shot landed Taylor at No. 9 on Sportscenter's Top 10 that night.Â
