Helton, Dulaney Qualify for Olympic Trials

FORT WORTH, Texas – Two SIUE wrestling alumni have qualified for the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials.

Tommy Helton advanced in the 130 kg weight class. Both will compete this week. Christian Dulaney, competing for the Minnesota Storm, qualified in the 87 kg weight class.

Both used a Last Chance Qualifier meet in Fort Worth to qualify for the Olympic Trials this Friday and Saturday back in Fort Worth.

Helton took true second in his senior Greco-Roman event with an 8-0 win over Courtney Freeman. Dulaney took second in his Senior Greco-Roman weight class, dropping the final to Alan Vera, of the New York Athletic Club.

The U.S. Olympic Trials will determine Team USA for the Tokyo Olympic Games in men's freestyle, women's freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling. Every match of the Trials will be broadcast on NBC Sports and/or the Peacock streaming service.
