EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's basketball Head Coach Samantha Quigley Smith announced her program's 2023-24 nonconference schedule Wednesday. The Cougars will host Maryville in an exhibition contest (Nov. 2) followed by a regular season slate featuring 13 games.
The Cougars officially tip off their regular season on the road at Oklahoma State (Nov. 6) before hosting Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 9) in the home opener at First Community Arena. This date also marks the home opener for men's basketball, who will face North Park University at 7:30 pm, and SIUE will be celebrating Military Appreciation Night. Three days later, SIUE will host Evansville (Nov. 12).
The nonconference swing continues away from Edwardsville with matchups at Illinois State (Nov. 15), Eastern Michigan (Nov. 18), and Dayton (Nov. 20). The Cougars will welcome Middle Tennessee State (Nov. 26) before returning to the road to face Michigan (Nov. 29) at the Crisler Center.
SIUE will host Northern Illinois (Dec. 3) before traveling for three games in December at SIU Carbondale (Dec. 6), Xavier (Dec. 15), and Loyola Chicago (Dec. 18). The Cougars will conclude the nonconference portion of their schedule at home vs. Harris Stowe (Dec. 20).
The 13 nonconference games are in addition to the 18-game Ohio Valley Conference schedule released over the summer.
"We have a great mix of competitiveness in our nonconference schedule to prepare our program for the Ohio Valley Conference," Smith said. "We have some great in-state rivalry games and tests against Big Ten and Big 12 opponents. Our goal remains the same: to compete for a conference title and make our first NCAA Division I tournament appearance. Our nonconference schedule will prepare us for that."
