EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Little Rock maintained its undefeated streak in Ohio Valley conference play, defeating SIUE 3-0 (26-24,25-21,25-19).
The Cougars are now 9-8 overall and 4-2 in OVC play, while the Trojans advance to 10-7 overall and 5-0 in OVC.
The Trojans jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the opening set before a Kill from
Teagan Sullivan sparked a six-point run that put SIUE ahead. The teams traded points down the stretch, but a kill from Crismeyli Rodriguez followed by a Cougar attack error sealed the set for the Trojans.
Set two was a back-and-forth battle, featuring four scoring runs by SIUE and five by Little Rock.
Both teams finished with 43 kills and six aces. The Trojans edged the Cougars in blocks (9-5) and assists (39-37), while SIUE held the advantage in digs (50-45).
Grad student
Kyndia Smith led the charge with 14 kills, hitting .400. Junior
Paige Bernstein dished out 17 assists, followed by freshman
Ally Hughes with 16. Senior
Olivia Hogan tallied 18 digs, and sophomore
Sophie Robinson contributed 14 digs.
The Trojans were led by Bella Cherry and Crismeyli Rodriguez who had 12 kills each.
SIUE plays Little Rock again tomorrow, with first serve set for 3 p.m.
