EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE volleyball fell to Tennessee Tech in four sets. TTU claimed the first two sets (25-20,25-20).
The Cougars started the third set with an ace from
Sophie Robinson giving them early points, a kill from
Kennedy Pike sparked a five-point run that sealed the third set. However, the Golden Eagles came back in the fourth set to win the match (25-16).
SIUE evens out to 12-12 on the season and 7-6 in the Ohio Valley conference. TTU improved to 10-14 overall and 7-5 in OVC play.
Pike led the Cougars with 10 kills, While
Grace Nichols had four blocks,
Paige Bernstein had 15 assists, and
Claire Jones had 17 digs.
SIUE out served TTU with nine aces with only seven errors compared to TTU's six aces and 12 errors. As a team the Cougars are fourth in the OVC with 145 total aces in the season, this is also good for 59
th in the NCAA.
As a team the Cougars had 33 kills, 30 assists and 52 digs. The Golden Eagles had 59 kills, 50 assists and 57 digs. The teams matched each other with six blocks.
Up next, SIUE takes on TTU again Saturday at 3 pm. The Cougars will celebrate their seniors prior to the start of the match.
