EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. –SIUE volleyball celebrated
Olivia Hogan,
Grace Nichols and
Kyndia Smith as part of their senior celebration. The three senior has contributed immensely to the program in their short time as athletes. Today they gave the Cougars a competitive start to today's match, but fell to Tennessee Tech in three sets (25-23,28-26,25-15).
The Cougars are now 12-13 overall and 7-7 in Ohio Valley Conference play. The Golden Eagles advanced to 11-14 overall and 8-5 in OVC play. After today's match the Cougars are ranked fifth in the OVC.
Kyndia Smith led the team with eight kills, while Clarie Jones tallied four aces.
Paige Bernstein set SIUE up with 15 assists and
Olivia Hogan gathered six digs. While Vienna Elliot had a hitting percentage of .417 off of five kills, 12 attempts and no errors.
As a team the Cougars were competitive, blocking the Golden Eagles six to five. SIUE also had 36 kills from 102 attempts for a hitting percentage of .235. The team also tallied 32 assists and 29 digs.
Up next, SIUE hits the road to take on Morehead State Nov. 6-7.
