EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Eight teams are set for action Sunday for the Cougar Clash at First Community Arena.
The eight programs include SIUE, Brown, No. 9 Illinois, No. 22 Little Rock, No. 12 Missouri, Northern Colorado, No. 16 Northern Iowa and No. 5 Oklahoma State. The rankings are via the NWCA Coaches Poll.
Action begins at 10 a.m. with pigtail matches and first round matches on four mats. The semifinals and consolation matches begin at 1 p.m. The consolation semifinals are slated for 3 p.m. and the championship finals with first-place and third-place matches commencing at 4 p.m.
Matches will be streamed on FloWrestling and the event is free to the public.
Teams are allowed 18 wrestlers with the final brackets being released after weigh-ins Sunday morning.
SIUE has three ranked wrestlers heading into the event. Caleb Tyus is nationally-ranked at 149 pounds as high as seventh by the College Wrestling Report. 133-pounder Marcel Lopez is ranked No. 30 by the College Wrestling Report. Danny Martinez is ranked No. 31 at 141 pounds by Wrestlestat.
