EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE track and field heads to its third two-day meet of the indoor season this weekend. The Cougars will compete at Pittsburg State's 11
th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic Friday and Saturday (Feb. 13-14) at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
Competition begins Friday at 2 p.m. and runs through 8:30 p.m. Day two gets underway at Noon Saturday. A total of 49 teams from the junior college, NAIA, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division I levels will compete over the two-day meet.
Eighteen Cougars have posted performances this season that rank in the top 10 of the Ohio Valley Conference, with eight of those marks ranking fifth or better.
Grant Milbrath currently leads the OVC in the men's weight throw with a mark of 21.63 meters (70-11.75), while
Mia Jackson ranks third in the women's 60-meter hurdles at 8.72.
Erica Woodard sits fourth in the OVC in both the women's mile (5:00.02) and the 3,000m (10:02.5).
Drew Tucker also ranks fourth in the men's high jump with a clearance of 2.05m (6-8.75).
Tyler Bell ranks fifth in the men's 60m hurdles at 8.25.
Teagan Sullivan is fifth in the women's long jump at 5.66m (18-7),
Nyah Williams ranks fifth in the women's triple jump at 11.79m (38-8.25), and Alison Sanders sits fifth in the women's weight throw at 15.76m (51-8.5).
