PITTSBURG, Kan. –
Grant Milbrath highlighted SIUE track and field Friday with a first-place finish at 20.81m (63-3) in the men's weight throw at the Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic.
In the women's weight throw,
Josie Hapack finished in 14th at 15.35m (50-4).
Allison Sanders followed in 18th (15.10m /49-6),
Maryiah Menicucci took 23rd (13.98m/ 45-10), and
Allison Taylor finished 37th (11.08m/36.4).
Caden Belcher tied for 10th in the men's high jump after clearing 1.83m (6-0). In the women's high jump
Teagan Sullivan finished in 10th at5.60m (18-4.5), she was followed by
Cassidy Short in 25th (5.03m/16-6).
SIUE sprinters competed in the preliminary rounds of the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles.
Trenton Brooks ran 7.09 in the men's 60 meters, while
Lena Jackson led the women with a 27th-place finish in 7.80. She was followed by
Jazmin West (35th/7.85) and
Kaylee Allen (39th/7.89). In the men's 60-meter hurdles,
Tyler Bell placed14th with a time of 8.31, and
Simon McClaine finished 40th (9.12).
Olivia Hansen ran 9.19 to place 25th in the women's hurdles. None of the Cougars advance to Saturday's finals.
The women's distance medley relay team of
Lexy Henrikson,
Kennedy Williams,
Kaylee Sprague and
Erica Woodard placed eighth out of 15 teams with a time of12:22.69. The men's distance medley relay team of
Logan Luttrell,
Plamedi Nseka,
Cullen Krieg and
Tanner Emerson was disqualified due to an exchange outside the zone.
Ian O'Laughlin finished in 31st for the men's 5000m with a time of 15:44.09. In the women's 5000m
Kinze Shea finished 30th in 19:11.90.
The Cougars will remain at the Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic for day two starting at noon tomorrow.
