EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – It was announced late Tuesday night that SIUE men's track and field's
Grant Milbrath qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships in the men's weight throw.
The championship field includes the top 16 athletes in the nation based on regular season marks. Milbrath ranks 15 nationally after posting a school-record throw of 22.34m (73-3.5) at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, where he claimed the conference title.
"The NCAA Division I indoor track and field championships is arguably the hardest championship to make in college athletics," Head Coach
Marcus Evans said. "Since transitioning to Division 1, SIUE has qualified two athletes to the indoor championships, La'Derrick Ward 2014 and Julian Harvey 2015, making Grant the third ever. As an alum I am proud to support Grant and get others to raise the tide with him. Grant is a hard worker and fully deserves this great honor, he's ready to bring the fight to the other competitors at the championship."
Milbrath opened the season with a win at the Mizzou Alexis Jarrett Invitational and added another first-place finish at the 11
th annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic before capturing the OVC crown.
The 2026 NCAA division I Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held March 13-14.
