MADISON, Ill. – SIUE golf is six shots back of the lead after two rounds at its home tournament, the Dolenc Invitational.
The Cougars shot rounds of 278-277 and have a combined 555. Both rounds are within the top 20 for lowest team rounds in program history. SIUE is fourth overall at 13-under. UT Martin and Idaho are tied for the team lead at 549. Bradley is third at 550.
Individually for SIUE, Tomas Rascon leads the way and is tied among a group of golfers for fifth at six-under 136. Rascon's second round 66 marked a career-low for the sophomore.
Preston Bily is tied for 13th at 137 (-5).
Trey Boecker is tied for 27th at two-under. Boecker shot rounds of 70-70, which is his low round.
Max Bruening is even and tied for 42nd. Rajan Roth is tied for 74th.
Four SIUE individuals also are competing. Parker Bruening is two-under and tied for 34th overall. Jake Guse is tied for 50th, Hayden Moore is tied for 52nd, and Thomas Hereau is 100th overall.
The Cougars team will pair with Idaho, UT Martin and Bradley in Tuesday's final round which gets underway at 8 a.m. at Gateway National Golf Links.
