MOREHEAD, Ky. – Senior Patrick Gaffigan and Nico Kuehn both were victorious in their respective singles matches Friday, but the SIUE men's tennis team fell to Morehead State 5-2 at the George Sadler Courts.

SIUE dropped to 8-13 overall and 4-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Morehead State improved to 6-10 overall and 5-3 in the OVC.

The Cougars will close out the regular season Saturday with a 12:30 p.m. match at Eastern Kentucky.

SIUE dropped the doubles point early despite Gaffigan and Tristan Houle just one game away from defeating Ritchie Kruunenberg and Gabriel Ruiz at No. 1 doubles.

The Eagles pressed forward with singles wins at No. 1, 2, 5 and 6.

Gaffigan overpowered Enrique Samudio at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-2. Kuehn grabbed a three-set victory over Sabastian Penaloza 7-6 (4), 1-6, 10-1 at No. 4 singles.
