NEWTON, Kan. – SIUE golf is tied for 12^th following the first round of play at Wichita State's Grier Jones Invitational finished Sunday at Sand Creek Station Golf Club.

SIUE combined for a 302 (+14) Kansas City leads the team event at 287 (-1) and is the only team under par.

Parker Bruening, who is playing as an individual, is 11^th after shooting even par for the first round. Tomas Rascon, SIUE's other individual player is tied for 21^st at one-over.

Will Simpson leads SIUE's team at one-over. He also is tied for 21^st. Brady Kaufmann is 28^th at two-over. Preston Bily is five-over and sits in 58^th. Brent Reintjes is a stroke back and is 71^st. Max Bruening is 89^th at 10-over.

The second round gets underway Tuesday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
