EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.- Junior Grant Milbrath will be representing SIUE track and field at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Milbrath is set to compete in the men's weight throw March 13, with the event beginning at 4:00 p.m.
 
Milbrath enters the competition ranked among the top 16 weight throwers in the nation.
 
"When he arrived at SIUE, he was eager to learn," Assistant coach Erin Wykoff said. "After thousands of reps in the throwing ring, increasingly heavy and strategic lifting in the weight room, and a desire to compete at a higher level."
 
Milbrath closed the regular season with a first-place finish in the men's weigh throw at the 11^th Annual Russ Jewett Indoor Gorilla Classic (Feb. 13-14), recording a mark of 20.81m (63-3.25).
 
He followed the performance with a standout showing at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships (Feb. 24-25), winning the weight throw with a program-record mark of 22.34m (73-3.5), winning the weight throw with a program-record mark of 22.34m (73-3.5) and claiming first place in the shot put at 16.54m (54-3.25).
 
"Coming off a strong offseason and lots of hard work, he improved his best mark to 22.34 (73' 3.5"), which crowned him the conference champion, broke our school record and qualified him for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship," Wykoff said."
