EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE men's and women's track and field kicks off the outdoor season with the Ole Miss Classic March 20-21 at Prefontaine Stadium in Oxford, Miss.
Schedule of Events
Friday's field events will begin at noon with the women's hammer throw and end with the men's javelin at 4:30 p.m. Running events will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the men's and women's 200m.
Events will continue Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. with the women's high jump and discus. Field events will wrap up at 3:00 p.m. with the men's triple jump and women's shot put. Running events will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the men's and women's 4x100m relay.
The Competition
There will be 13 school in attendance, 25 total teams and 481 athletes. Schools include Alabama-Huntsville, Bellarmine, Harding, North Alabama, Ole Miss, Ouachita Baptist, Rust College (men only), Tennessee State, Texas A&M- Texarkana, ULM, West Alabama and William Carey.
Indoor Success
The Cougars are coming off a successful indoor season, especially during the Ohio Valley Conference indoor championship.
Grant Milbrath placed first in both the men's shot put (1.65m) and a program record throw (22.34m). He followed this performance with an 11
th place finish at the NCAA Indoor championships.
SIUE saw strong performances from
Tyler Bell who set a new program record in the men's 60m hurdles finishing at 7.86. She also placed seventh in the men's 60m dash (7.47).
Mia Jackson earned a third-place finish in the women's 60m hurdles (8.63). Sophomore
Payton Carter set a new program in the women's pole vault, clearing 3.74m
