Cougars Play to Tie With No. 1 NKU

         After playing to a 2-0 halftime advantage, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's soccer team managed a tie Sunday against No. 1 Northern Kentucky Sunday at Korte Stadium.
         Ann Crawford (St. Louis) started the scoring for the Cougars in the 14th minute off an Erin Gusewelle (Edwardsville) pass. Sarah Landt (Carbondale) made it 2-0 with a goal, with Angela Light (St. Louis) assisting on the play.
         Northern Kentucky came out strong in the second half, out shooting the Cougars 13-1. Kristen Noakes put Northern Kentucky on the board in the 75th minute, then again six minutes later.
         The tie moves the Cougars to 4-2-3 overall and 1-0-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Northern Kentucky remains unbeaten at 9-0-1 and 3-0-1 in the conference.
         Next, the Cougars will play at Bellarmine on Friday, then continue on the road at Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday.
