EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's soccer won its fifth straight game Friday with a 2-0 drubbing of Indianapolis at Korte Stadium.
         The Cougars improved their record to 9-4-2 overall and 7-3-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. SIUE moved ahead of Indianapolis in the GLVC standings as the Greyhounds fell to 10-4 and 6-4 in the GLVC.
         SIUE was outshot in the game 10-8 but controlled the flow of play.
         Jenny Kates broke a scoreless tie when she eluded at least three Indianapolis defenders and then put the ball past Indianapolis goalkeeper Abby Tracy from point blank range. The goal was unassisted.
         SIUE's other goal was an own goal off after a corner kick as an Indianapolis defender put the ball in the net.
         SIUE continues homecoming weekend Sunday with a 2:30 p.m. game against Saint Joseph's.
