JOPLIN, Mo. -- Despite being a player down for two-thirds of the game, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville women's soccer pulled out a victory.
         The Cougars outshot Northeastern State 26-10 and won the game 3-2 on second-half goals by Padra Bencini and Amy Million.
         SIUE was forced to play with a player down when goalkeeper Kim Roady was issued a red card in the 35th minute. Charlotte Dinsdale scored on a rebound off her penalty kick attempt.
         SIUE's Kaci Backs finished the game in goal, but it was the Cougar offense which had control of the game.
         Jennifer Kratzer led SIUE with six shots and Elizabeth Valenti added five. Valenti scored the game's first goal at 7:55 on an assist by Kelly Limpert.
         Elizabeth Ball set up both SIUE scores in the second half off corner kicks. Bencini connected at 62:13. Million followed up with the eventual game-winner at 66:51.
         SIUE was issued four cards during the game. The Cougars recorded seven in 23 games last season.
