No. 14 Cougars Overpower Missouri-Rolla

         EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville volleyball flexed its muscles Friday over Great Lakes Valley Conference newcomer Missouri-Rolla.
         SIUE, ranked No. 14 nationally in the AVCA/NCAA Division II poll, improved to 12-3 overall and 5-0 in the GLVC with a 30-18, 30-20, 30-16 victory over the Miners at the Vadalabene Center. This is the first season of collegiate volleyball for Missouri-Rolla, which fell to 1-15 overall and 1-14 in the GLVC.
         SIUE setter Mallory Clements, the Baden/GLVC Player of the Week, turned in another stellar match with a team-leading 10 kills and 36 assists. The Cougar junior missed a 13th career triple-double by one dig.
         Clements spread out the Cougar offense as 10 different Cougars picked up kills. Emily Rahn and Candice Kummer had eight each.
         SIUE hit .412 for the match with 52 kills and 10 errors. The Cougar defense held Missouri-Rolla to .043 hitting. Lauren Summerville led the Miners with seven kills.
         The Cougars return to the Vadalabene Center Saturday to face Missouri-St. Louis. Match time is 1 p.m.
