BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Coreen Ellis tied the 600-meter indoor record and helped Southern Illinois University Edwardsville break the distance medley relay record Friday at the Hoosier Hills Invitational.
Ellis won the 600-meter event in a time of 1 minute, 31.49 seconds. When converted because of Indiana's banked track, the mark ties the school record set by Diane Korte in 1988 of 1:31.94.
SIUE's distance medley relay team of Ellis, Kayla Brown, Juliet Alrich and Maggie Krall broke the previous record set in 2004. The foursome ran the event in 12:10.51, a full 17 seconds better than the old mark.
Alrich also picked up the victory at 400 meters in a time of 57.09. Megan Dennis placed fourth in the event with a time of 58.68.
SIUE thrower Jennie Satterlee also tied her personal best mark in the weight throw at 53 feet, 6.25 seconds.
The Cougars also picked up season bests from Dennis at the 60-meter hurdles and the triple jump as well as Jennifer Palovcsik in the high jump.
