MADISON, Wis. - Megan Dennis placed third in the triple jump as the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville made its first appearance at the Badger Open.

SIUE competed in a quadrangular meet at the University of Wisconsin. Host Wisconsin collected the victory with 194 points. They were followed by Marquette with 118, Milwaukee with 106 and SIUE with 72.

Dennis leaped 38 feet, 9 inches, in the triple jump. Valery Taylor picked up a sixth-place finish in the same event with a jump of 34-4.25.

Freshman Colleen McDonough recorded a personal best in the shot put. Her throw of 42-6.25 gave her fifth place just ahead of teammate Breanna Branson.

Kristin Wykoff placed fourth in the discus at 134-7. It is the first time SIUE has competed in the indoor discus.

Aftan Noon placed a strong sixth in the 3,000-meter run, her first try at the event as a collegian. Running in a very good field, she finished the event in 10:43.91.

Freshman Michelle Higgins battled her way through preliminaries in both the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles. Her time of 8.26 placed her seventh in the 60 dash.
