EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE men's and women's track & field programs will kick off their 2012-13 campaigns on Saturday when they travel to Carbondale for the Saluki Fast Start meet.

The action is scheduled to begin with field events at 10 a.m. before track events begin at 2 p.m.  All competition will take place inside SIUC's Student Recreation Center.

The Cougars were last in action Nov. 16 when they held the fourth annual Red vs. Black Intrasquad meet at Principia College.

On the women's side, seniors Aftan Noon and Colleen McDonough each set a pair of meet records.  Noon set high marks in the 1,000 meters (2 minutes, 54.73 seconds) and the 600 meters (1:34.64) while McDonough posted meet bests in the weight throw (58 feet, 1 inch) and shot put (45-2.25).

For the men, senior Marc Presley set a meet record in the 1,000 meters (2:31.99) while sophomores Ahmad Evans and Greg Block posted meet records in the 300 meters (33.62) and the shot put (53-10.5), respectively.

Also competing in Saturday's meet will be SIUC, Saint Louis, Murray State, Mississippi, Tennessee Tech, and Rend Lake College.
