AUSTIN, Tex. – LaDonna Caston and Ahmad Evans completed their 2015 seasons in the finals of the NCAA West Preliminaries.
"I can't say enough about these two," said Head Coach Eileen McAllister. "It's not the way we wanted to end, but there are many positives."
Caston finished the 100-meter hurdles in 13.70 seconds, good enough for 19th place.
Caston is the current SIUE record-holder in the 100-meter hurdles at 13.40. She finished second at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships as well as winning the Red Wolves Invitational and the SIUE Gateway this season.
"LaDonna made it one step further than last year, and we will always take progress," said McAllister. "She has been steadfast for us all year and has made big breakthroughs."
Evans completed his SIUE career with his 21.22 200 meter finish.
Evans leaves SIUE with the records in the 100 and 200 meters. He finished second in the OVC in the 200. He also qualified for the NCAA Preliminaries twice during his career.
"Ahmad will be missed," said McAllister. "He's a true team player. His accomplishments and contributions have been tremendous. He leaves a big spot to fill next year."
La'Derrick Ward will represent the Cougars at the NCAA Championships June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon. He looks to improve upon his fourth place finish from last year.
"I am proud of our coaches and athletes," said McAllister. "They represented SIUE with excellence."
