BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – SIUE track and field competed in its final meet at Indiana's Hoosier Hills before heading to Birmingham, Alabama for the Ohio Valley Conference Championships. The Cougars proved to be strong, with several athletes setting PRs across events.
Throws:
In the women's weight throw, Stephanie Montenegro (14.54m) and Allison Sanders (14.45) placed back-to-back with 15th and 16th place finishes. Jamie Tabron (12.18) and Montenegro (11.80m) also competed in the shot put event. Montenegro's throw set a new indoor PR.
On the men's side of throwing, Joel Degracia placed 17th with a 13.76m toss in the weight throw. Luke Hatten represented the men in the shot put with a 13.98m toss.
Jumps:
Savannah Sullivan set a new PR in the women's long jump with a 5.63 leap for a fourth pace finish. Izzy Kennedy (5.27m), Folasade Oladipupo (5.16m), and Dakota Krone (5.08m) also competed in the event.
Kennedy also competed in the women's triple jump, placing fourth at 11.45m.
Caden Belcher took on the men's high jump with a 1.84m leap.
Sprints and Hurdles:
Nyah Williams (8.11), Vashanti Reynolds (8.22), and Kaylee Allen (8.23) all ran in the women's 60m dash. Bobby Nuzzo ran for the men with a 7:01 time.
Reynolds (9.22), Harper Smith (9.79), and Priscilla Jones (9.83) took on the women's 60m hurdles while Cole Knapp ran for the men (8.99).
Oladipupo led the women in the 200m dash, placing 13th with a 26.27 time. Sullivan also competed with a 26.66 time, good for a new PR.
Bobby Nuzzo led the men with a second-place, 22.04 time in the men's 200m dash, good for a new PR. Konrad Sacha also ran placing fourth at 22.25, also good for a career best mark. Cole Knapp's 24.03 time set a PR as well.
Kailah Carter led the women in the 400m with a fourth-place finish and 58.27 time. Hanna Anderson placed sixth with a 59.32 time. Sacha set a new PR in the 400m, placing fifth at 49.72. Caden Belcher (52.71) and Taylor Lehman (55.69) also competed in the event, both setting career best marks.
Mid-Distance and Distance:
Natalia Rodriguez (11:09.51), Olivia Wolf (11:50.17), and Alexis Edgar (11:50.64) ran in the women's 3,000m event. Rodriguez and Edgar both set PRs in the event.
Roland Prenzler led the men's pack in the 3,000m with a sixth-place finish at 8:37.97, setting a PR. Spencer Hielkema (8:46.25) and Jackson Edwards (9:06.01) also ran in the event, also setting career best marks.
Kaitlyn Walker made her collegiate debut in the women's mile run with a 5:33.11 time. Zach Walters (4:28.56), Cameron Woodard (4:33.07), and D'Andre Watson (4:37.39) ran in the mile for the men. All three times were PRs.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Kaylee Allen, Gabrielle Horton, Hanna Anderson, and Kailah Carter placed fifth with a 4:07.33 finish.
