Cougars Wrap Competition at Ohio Valley Conference Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – SIUE men's and women's track and field completed day two of action at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship. Several athletes set new career bests in their respective events.

Throws:

Luke Hatten led the men in the shot put with a 14.11m toss, setting a new career best. Joel Degracia also competed with an 11.10m toss.

Maryiah Menicucci represented the women in the shot put with a 12.97m toss for a fourth-place finish. Her toss was good for a new PR. Jamie Tabron finished behind Menicucci in fifth with a 12.90m throw, also good for a career best.

Jumps:

Freshman Caden Belcher placed 11th in the men's high jump with a 1.88m leap.

Sprints and Hurdles:

Paris Somerville placed sixth in the women's 60m hurdles with an 8.99 time.

Bobby Nuzzo placed seventh in the men's 60m dash with a 22.26 time.

Kailah Carter led the women in the 400m dash with a 57.06 time, setting a new career best in the event. Hanna Anderson also competed, finishing at 58.12.

Konrad Sacha represented the men in the 400m dash, placing fifth at 49.05. The freshman's time was good for a season best mark.

Mid-Distance and Distance:

Gabrielle Horton placed fifth in the 800m run with a 2:20.00 time.

Chessy Nikonowicz led the women in the 3,000m run with a 10:53.13 finish. The sophomore's time was good for a career best. Natalia Rodriguez (11:03.25) and Alexis Fisher (11:32.96) also competed. Rodriguez's time was also good for a PR.

Roland Prenzler led the men in the 3,000m with an 8:45.48 time. Zach Walters (8:50.51) and Jackson Edwards (9.00.09) also competed.

Cameron Woodard led the Cougars in the men's mile run with an 4:29.02 finish. Woodard's finish was good for a new PR. D'Andre Watson also competed in the event with a 4:38.30 time.

4x400 Relay:

The women's 4x400 team of Kaylee Allen, Hanna Anderson, Gabrielle Horton, and Kailah Carter placed sixth with a 3:56.18 time.

The men's 4x400 relay team of Caden Belcher, Konrad Sacha, Taylor Lehman, and Cole Knapp placed seventh with a 3:28.13 time.

Pentathlon:

Harper Smith represented SIUE in the women's pentathlon with a ninth-place finish and 2,750 points. She placed fifth overall in the high jump with a 1.52m leap.
