INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – SIUE men's and women's track and field continued the indoor portion of its schedule at the Butler Invitational on Saturday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds inside the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion.
The day was highlighted by six top three finishes, including a program record in the women's weight throw by Alexis Hutchins and a first-place finish in the men's weight throw by Grant Milbrath, a new facility record at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion.
Throws
Hutchins' 19.17m in the women's weight throw for second place was good for a new PR and SIUE program record. Allison Sanders also finished inside the top five of the event with a 15.06m mark. Stephanie Montenegro earned 15th at 13.76m.
Hutchins also led the Cougars in the women's shot put with a 12.69m mark for fifth while Claire Bushur placed sixth at 12.56m. Maryiah Menicucci took 14th with a 10.85m throw.
Milbrath's 18.10m mark in the men's weight throw earned the freshman first place and set the facility record at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. Luke Hatten finished inside the top five with a fifth-place finish at 15.73m, good for a PR. Joel Degracia took ninth at 13.81m.
Hatten led the Cougars in the men's shot put, posting a 14.08m toss for fourth place. Milbrath finished fifth at 14.06m.
Jumps
Junior Folasade Oladipupo took fourth in the women's long jump with a 5.34m leap. Cassidy short also competed, posting a 3.92m jump.
In the women's high jump, Aseanti Boone (1.50m) and Zaria Searcy (1.50) tied for fifth.
Caden Belcher earned a spot on the podium in the men's high jump, posting a 1.93m leap for second and a new career best mark. Drew Tucker finished fourth at 1.89m.
Sprints and Hurdles
Mia Jackson finished inside the top three of the women's 60m hurdles at 9.10, good for third overall. On the men's side of the event, junior Taylor Lehman earned fifth at 8.62.
In the women's 60m dash, Kailah Carter placed ninth while setting a PR with an 8.13 mark. Jada Fryer collected 16th at 8.38. Carter also led SIUE in the 200m at 26.04.
In the preliminary rounds of the men's 60m dash, Tyler Bell led SIUE with a 7.13 mark, good for fourth overall. Chase Burton (9th/7.25) and Konrad Sacha (12th/7.33) also competed in the event. Sacha's time was good for a career best mark.
In the men's 200m, Chase Burton earned fourth, crossing the finish at 22.44.
In the women's 400m, sophomore Kaylee Allen placed seventh while setting a PR at 59.75. Konrad Sacha finished second on the men's side of the 400m
Mid-Distance and Distance
Gabrielle Horton collected eighth in the women's 800m with a 2:27.92 mark. Courtney Anthonies earned 14th at 2:33.99 while Megan Derrick took 17th with a 2:43.57 time. In the men's 800m, Cullen Krieg finished 12th at 2:02.49.
Freshman Mia Loafman led SIUE in the women's mile with a 5:28.06 time, good for 11th overall. Riley Doyle (5:46.76) and Lexi Kampwerth (5:50.84) finished back-to-back at 20th and 21st. In the men's mile, D'Andre Watson set a new PR and finished sixth at 4:32.60. Tyler Guthrie also competed in the mile, recording a 4:37.65 time for ninth.
In the women's 3,000m, Kaitlyn Walker (14th/11:01.60), Alexis Fisher (15th/11:21.02), and Chessy Nikonowicz (16th/11:24.90) finished back-to-back-to-back. Roland Prenzler paced the men in the 3,000m at 8:39.29. Zach Walters (14th/8:48.16) and Spencer Hielkema (16th/8:49.78) competed in the event.
Relays
The women's 4x400m relay team of Folasade Oladipupo, Alondria Smith, Alise Simon, and Gabrielle Horton finished fourth at 4:08.76. The men's 4x400m squad consisting of Chase Burston, Simon McLaine, Taylor Lehman, and Konrad Sacha earned third at 3:28.70.
