EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE track and field continued its outdoor season at home, hosting the Cougar Classic at Ralph Korte Stadium. The day was highlighted by multiple first-place finishes and a handful of career best marks.
Throws:
In the women's shot put, Alexis Hutchins posted a 14.16m toss for first place. Maryiah Menicucci finished second at 13.00m. Claire Bushur (fourth/12.62), Stephanie Montenegro (sixth/12.49m), and Jamie Tabron (seventh/12.15m) all finished inside the top 10.
Hutchins also led SIUE in the women's hammer throw with a 55.28m toss for second. Allison Sanders finished fifth at 51.70m. Gabby Yaccino (eighth/47.71m) and Stephanie Montenegro (ninth/45.88m) rounded out the Cougars inside the top 10.
Kaitlyn Morningstar earned fifth in the women's discus with a 39.44m toss. Allison Sanders (36.45m) and Stephanie Montenegro (36.43m) finished back-to-back at eighth and ninth.
Jamirah Meeks tallied a first-place finish in the women's javelin with a 35.82m throw.
Grant Milbrath led SIUE in the men's shot put with a season-best 15.71m mark, earning third. Luke Hatten took eighth at 14.68m.
Milbrath also finished fifth in the men's hammer throw at 54.04m. Luke Hatten collected sixth at 49.94m.
Jumps:
Dakota Krone posted a third-place finish in the women's long jump with a 5.59m mark. Sheena Cumberbatch took sixth at 5.48m while Folasade Oladipupo collected eighth at 5.43m.
In the women's high jump, freshman Zaria Searcy and Aseanti Boone tied for first with a 1.59m mark. Harper Smith tied for third at 1.54m.
Freshman Drew Tucker also posted a first-place finish on the men's side of the high jump at 2.00m. Caden Belcher tied for second at 1.90m.
Hurdles:
Vashanti Reynolds recorded a 14.98 mark in the women's 100m hurdles to earn fourth overall. Mia Jackson took sixth at 15.80.
Aseanti Boone represented SIUE in the women's 400m hurdles with a fifth-place finish at 1:11.17.
On the men's side of the 110m hurdles, Tyler Bell collected first overall while setting a PR, crossing the finish line at 15.25. Taylor Lehman finished fourth at 15.73.
Taylor Lehman led SIUE in the 400m hurdles with a 55.12 time for second. His mark was good for a PR. Cole Knapp earned third at 56.00 while Caden Belcher took fifth at 59.84.
Sprints:
In the women's 100m dash, Kaylee Allen finished second at 12.46 while setting a PR. Vashanti Reynolds earned sixth at 12.91 while Folasade Oladipupo earned eighth at 13.11.
Kaylee Allen finished first in the women's 200m with a 25.47 mark. Sheena Cumberbatch finished sixth at 27.22 while Alise Simon earned seventh at 27.29. For the men, Konnor Bouman placed fourth at 22.94.
Kailah Carter led the women in the 400m dash with a 57.56 time for first overall. Alondria Smith (12th/1:01.00) and Alise Simon (15th/1:03.27) also competed in the event. Konrad Sacha recorded a 48.92 mark in the men's 400m dash for fourth overall.
Mid-Distance and Distance:
Gabrielle Horton took first in the women's 800m with a 2:16.46 mark. Courtney Anthonies finished sixth at 2:32.69 and Megan Derrick finished ninth at 2:37.42 to round out the Cougars inside the top 10. D'Andre Watson finished ninth in the men's 800m at 2:01.11.
Mia Loafman led SIUE in the women's 1,500m race with a 4:59.57 time. Anna Keller earned 13th at 5:12.78. Natalia Rodriguez (5:24.17) and Lexi Kampweth (5:26.44) finished at 15th and 16th. For the men, Roland Prenzler earned sixth at 4:03.40, good for a PR. D'Andre Watson took ninth at 4:09.20, also good for a career best mark.
In the men's 3,000m steeplechase, Blake Panagos (10:31.20) and Cameron Woodard (10:44.28) finished back-to-back at fifth and sixth.
Kaitlyn Walker posted a second-place performance in the women's 3,000m at 10:49.19, good for a PR. Alexis Fischer earned fifth at 11:11.60. Riley Doyle (11:31.72) and Olivia Wolf (11:37.39) rounded out SIUE inside the top 10.
In the men's 3,000m, Spencer Hielkema posted an 8:55.29 time for fourth overall en route to a PR. Zach Walters took fifth at 9:00.26. Tyler Guthrie (sixth/9:18.99) and Jackson Edwards (seventh/9:24.65) also competed in the event.
Relays:
The SIUE women's 4x400m A relay team of Vashanti Reynolds, Folasade Oladipupo, Kailah Carter, and Kaylee Allen took second overall at 47.67. The Cougars' B squad of Alondria Smith, Alise Simon, Sheena Cumberbatch, and Nyah Williams took fifth at 49.77.
