SIUE easily won its fourth consecutive NCAA Division II men's tennis crown by scoring 22 points over runners-up Rollins and Southwest Texas State (now Texas State) with 12 points. Ken Flach extended SIUE's streak of national singles champions becoming the third SIUE player in five seasons to walk away with the individual title, winning all six of his national championship matches in straight sets. Flach and teammate Hugo Nunez competed in the singles final with Flach prevailing 6-4, 6-4. The duo advanced to the finals for the doubles championships. Doug Burke competed in the national singles tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals. The 1982 men's tennis team, under Coach Kent DeMars, included Marc Sluszny, Joe Vassen, Raimo O'Jala, Ray Kuzava, Randy Nistler, Jorma Leppanen, and Lange Johnson.
