A member of the first SIUE men's basketball team under Head Coach Harry Gallatin, Mike Moore has had a lifetime of giving back to SIUE and SIUE Athletics. The former Director of the State Games of America and an administrator for the Prairie State Games, he also showcased SIUE's facilities to hundreds of Senior athletes from the Midwest with the Southwestern Illinois Senior Olympic Games. He represented Illinois Governor Jim Edgar's office at the initial meetings to secure state funding for the track and soccer stadium (now known as Korte Stadium) for the 1994 U.S. Olympic Festival. He later helped secure the rock and hauling donation from Columbia Quarry to create the Bluff Road parking lot at Korte Stadium. Moore and his wife, Maureen, also donated to the University with a portion of the winnings from racehorse "Tiz Gallatin" benefitting Cougar Athletics.
