Men's Soccer, Friend of the Program
One of the first players on Coach Bob Guelker’s 1967 inaugural men’s soccer team, Tim Tighe has a unique bond with the program. Out of his mutual respect and bond with former All-American Jack Blake, Tighe became the founder and sponsor of the Jack Blake Award during the 1997 season. Tighe and Blake were co-captains of the undefeated 1970 team. The list of players to win the award include many of SIUE’s best student-athletes who mirror Blake’s talent, intensity, dedication, fitness, and leadership displayed on the soccer field and in the classroom. Tighe has been a very loyal friend to SIUE Athletics and a major contributor during the transition to NCAA Division I status.
