The first two-time softball All-American in school history during the 2000 and 2001 seasons, Erin Newman rewrote much of the SIUE record book. She is the all-time leader in hits (265), on-base percentage (.457), games played (229), games started (228), at bats (697), doubles (69), home runs (44), runs batted in (185), total bases (472), and sacrifice flies (8). Newman started her career as the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Newcomer of the Year in 1999. A four-time All-Region pick and a three-time All-GLVC selection, she also holds numerous single-season records including being the only Cougar to ever hit better than .400 in more than one season.
