Hall of Fame
A six-time All-American (twice as an individual and four times as a member of a relay team), Tairisha Sawyer competed at SIUE from 2004-07. She was named as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year at the 2004 Outdoor Championships after winning both the 100 and the 200. The first of her All-American awards came at the 2005 NCAA Indoor Championships in the 200 meters. She followed with an outdoor All-American honor in 2006 at 200 meters. Sawyer was part relay teams which captured All-American status at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Championship, the 2006 NCAA Outdoor Championship and the 2007 Outdoor Championship (in both 4x100 and 4x400). She earned GLVC Athlete of the Year honors at the 2005 Indoor Championships after winning the 55 and 200-meter dashes. In all, Sawyer collected All-GLVC honors 17 times in indoor and outdoor championships.
